What is Order Up?

Order up is a restaurant ticketing system.

This system was built to enable managers, waiters, and chefs deliver exceptional service to customers. It is my hope that as you begin to implement Order Up, your restaurant will be empowered to better serve customers.

Order Up is an IOS app built for iPad.

Order Up leverages the high level of integration mobile devices have to offer. The design of many restaurant management tools leads many people to dread using them; however, the familiar design of the Order Up app invites users to explore and experiment. The app’s clean interface makes it friendly to new users, while its consistent design patterns lend itself to power users.

Why You Should Use Order Up?

This application was built to solve a problem. I worked in customer service for two years (first as a kitchen worker then as a waiter). During that time, I was struck with how dated the technology seemed. Interfaces were slow, unintuitive, and unresponsive. Initially I thought these shortcomings must be unique to the system we used, but as I’ve interacted with professionals there seemed to be a consensus; restaurant management systems are not user-friendly. Order Up was built to disrupt this conclusion.

Order Up is designed to be intuitive.

Whether you’re coming from another management system or are completely inexperienced, Order Up was designed for you. One of the primary goals of this project was to balance clean design with the functionality of a master system.

Why I built Order Up

I’ve long been interested in the power of technology to enhance the human experience. After starting school, I began working at the college’s restaurant, first as a kitchen worker and later as a waiter. In this environment, I noticed the perfect area for software to be leveraged. Restaurants undergo a constant stream of order processing. Without software to manage and track this data flow, it’s easy for important information to be lost leading to hiccups in the dining experience.

While the current solutions in this market work, they’re not exceptional. I don’t miss the slow, unresponsive, and buggy interfaces at my former job, and many professionals share my disdain. Order Up was built to combat this. I made it to be an app you want to use not just because it “gets the job done” but because it provides an exceptional user experience.
